Should College Athletes Be Paid For Their Work
Should College Athletes Be Paid For Their Work?A new research paper on the topic of pay for play and how it should be handled in college athletics should generate a lot of attention. In fact, some believe that it is overdue. Now the NCAA has set up a new committee to handle the issue. It will consist of former collegiate athletes, players who signed exclusive sponsorship contracts, college coaches, and some members of the NCAA Board of Directors. The goal is to come up with a way to pay players and also to protect the integrity of college sports.Athletes are trained to be disciplined, but that isn't necessarily the case when it comes to money, especially when it comes to college students. Student athletes want to be paid for their hard work, dedication, and excellence on the field. They deserve a fair wage for their work. They are athletes just like everyone else and deserve to be compensated appropriately. The NCAA wants to give this important research paper some thought and take into consideration the negative impacts that football and basketball players in particular have on their families and those living off campus. On a personal level, I would love to see these players get paid a decent wage and not have to fight for every dollar they earn.Players should be allowed to bring home a check even if they don't win the national championship and even if they lose the final game of the season. This is something that every student athlete can do as long as they live in a very small area and receive benefits from the college. It makes sense that the NCAA is looking into pay for play and to find a way to get college athletes compensated fairly. As long as the results of the pay for play study and related reforms will show them that players can indeed receive fair wages, they will be more than willing to move forward. In addition, there should be a few stipulations put in place about pay. For example, players should not be able to use their checks for their own personal use. Players should be allowed to keep their money in their bank accounts until the money has been spent. It will be interesting to see what the committee comes up with as well as what specific plan they come up with. The system should work, but they must ensure that it does not interfere with the integrity of college sports.
